Collector´s Edition Bonus Deck is the first official expansion set for Dungeon Poker
The Collector’s Edition Bonus Deck contains large character cards for all the original player characters, and three completely new characters never published before. In addition, a Graveyard card is included that serves as a place for all the folded, destroyed, and burned cards.
The cards in this expansion are designed to fit into the original Dungeon Poker box. The large characters are easily recognizable, and you can better read the text in dim lightning. And they look fabulous!
Below, you can read the explanation of the game mechanics of the extra cards, because the expansion contains no rulebook.
You may buy the Dungeon Poker Collector’s Edition from the official store of Pelikeisari.
Player Characters
Below, the rules for the new player characters. You can find the stories for the new characters in the “Player Characters” page.
Blue Prince
The Real Blue Prince
With this ability, the Blue Prince may draw one extra hand card from the deck during his action at the preflop. No action is expended to draw the card. In addition, no encounters or special abilities of the other characters affect this ability. For example, the “Antimagic zone” or the “Long night” do not nullify this ability. Nor can the Night Ogre use its gaze to prevent the use of this ability.
Diplomatic Escape
With this ability, the Blue Prince may retrieve all the gold he has bet to the pot during this deal. Because of this ability, you should, when playing with the Blue Prince, always keep the gold you have invested in the pot slightly separated from the rest. Do note that if the Blue Prince has no turn of action, he cannot use this ability. (For example, during an All-In situation)
The Blue Prince excels in epic duels against the ultimate evil. Because of this, his ability scales with the amount of opponents so that he is stronger with less opponents – because he has the dealer card frequently. He gets progressively stronger in a tournament game when players are eliminated from the table. In games that start with just two players, you might want to ban him from the selection, because of his power.
Slime King
Swallow enemy
The Slime king works differently from the other characters. This loathsome “hero” always starts with zero Soul Gems. With his (or its?) Swallow enemy ability, the Slime King always gets a Soul Gem, whenever a monster or a player is eliminated. However, he does not get Soul Gems from the Golem or King Monsters. If a monster is removed from the game rather than killed, the Slime King does not get a Soul Gem.
Slime domination
With this fearsome ability, the Slime King may draw one card to his hand from the deck. Unlike other abilities of this type, the Slime King may keep the card for as long as the level lasts. However, the card must be kept open in front of the character. This card counts as a hand card when interpreting the rules. The Slime King may draw more than one extra card by using the ability many times, and all of these extra cards last until the end of the level.
Out of all the characters, the Slime King is probably the most different from others. If the Slime King manages to accumulate Soul Gems and collects a number of hand cards in front of him, the other players might find themselves in a sticky situation – literally. Despite that, the Slime King has clear weaknesses that other players should capitalize on. For example, he basically starts with no special abilities, and his Slime domination ability is transparent – the other players always know these extra cards. In addition, these extra cards disappear, should the level change prematurely…
Bard
Charming song
With this potent ability costing two Soul Gems, the Bard may take one random hand card from any player and put it to her hand. After this, she must give one of her hand cards to that player (she may give back the same card she just took). If some of the cards the target player has are open, those cards are shuffled and then the Bard draws one of them. If this card is not one of the open cards, the target player must re-open that card. If, on the other hand, the drawn card was open, the Bard may keep it hidden. Of course, the others may then infer what the card was.
Enchanting melody
This ability also costs two Soul Gems. With this ability, the Bard may draw one of the shared cards to her hand and give one of her hand cards to the table. If the card she gives back is hidden, it is also kept hidden on the table.
Unlike any other character, both of the abilities the Bard has cost two Soul Gems. Both of these abilities are potent enchantments and may shift the balance of the game even when played at the river. Her weakness is that she may not use these abilities many times, so you should carefully strategize when to get the most out of these abilities. Due to this, the Bard might not be the easiest character for a beginner, even if she has powerful tricks at her disposal.
Graveyard
The Graveyard card is included in the Collector’s Edition Bonus Deck. The purpose of this card is to mark the place where all the folded, destroyed, and burned cards from the main deck go. This makes the game a bit clearer, as the cards are not easily forgotten to different places after the deal and are always returned for the next shuffle. Also, abilities that utilize the graveyard are clearer when these cards can always be found in the same place. The Graveyard could not be included to the playing board, because the most natural place for it depends on how the players are arranged around the table. Sometimes you might also want to change the place depending on the dealer, for example from one end of the table to the other.
