Player characters
Barbarian
The barbarian is a strong warrior from the wilderness. In battle, he relies more on his instincts and pure strength than precise tactical maneuvers. He has the ability to enter a ferocious emotional stage where he abandons all fear and reason – and becomes a raging icon of strength. He also becomes immune to all spells and special abilities that target him or seek to influence his mind negatively.
Cave Troll
The Dungeon Poker tournament is played deep under the Gray Cave Mountain – in the home of the fearsome Cave Troll. The Cave Troll is probably not the sharpest tool in the shed, but in Dungeon Poker she is a frightening opponent because of her other abilities. She is a stubborn warrior who relies more on brawn than brain – and she does it well. She is hard to beat because of her thick skin and the unique regeneration skill. And yes – she has a giant club.
Druid
The Druid is the mystical defender of the old forests surrounding the Gray Cave Mountain. She is the master of wild growth: she can cause plants to grow even in the deepest of dungeons. When playing against the Druid, the opponents can never know how green the table will look on the next stage. When threatened or feeling cornered, she has the mysterious ability to change her shape into that of a giant bear.
Night Ogre
Night Ogre is no relative of Giants, instead it is a far more sinister ancient monster from the very old chronicles. The stories about this horrifying monster appearing in the darkest moment of the night are shared among families over the years and children learn to fear this monster from very early childhood. At the darkest moment, when you feel all light vanishing, it may be a Night Ogre nearby. You may feel that you are being stared at – then it is probably already too late. The Night Ogre possesses the ultimate power to induce fear and also to make things disappear in the neverending darkness forever.Fighter
The Fighter is a wanderer often found in various mercenary camps, selling his sword to the highest bidder. The promise of gold and riches has lured the Fighter to participate in the Dungeon Poker tournament. The Fighter possesses the ability to enhance his mastery of war arts, melee mastery, which grants him additional options during the tournament in the form of an extra card. It is a straightforward ability like the Fighter himself is.
Gnome Artificer
There is a small secret workshop under the mountain where you can hear a continuous gentle knocking. It is the inquisitive Gnome Artificer living and building his golems there. The Gnome Artificer is a tinkerer and an inventor who never goes anywhere without his trusted Golem companion. The Golem is hand-crafted by the Artificer himself. It is frail and may look weak, but it can be made stronger and more useful by the Gnome Artificer’s Construct Golem special ability.Paladin
The valiant Paladin protects the Summermist Monastery from the incursions of evil. Originally he hails from the Southern continent, but he has sworn loyalty to the holy monastery. He is a straightforward warrior who has the potential for great strength should he decide to use his Holy Avenger ability early on – it is more powerful the earlier in the battle he chooses to use it. Thus, many opponents simply flee when they see the Paladin channelling his divine power early in the battle.
Priestess
The gentle priestess also hails from the fabled Summermist Monastery, the home of monks, nuns, priests, priestesses, and paladins. She possesses very potent healing and protection magic that will surely come in handy during the Dungeon Poker tournament, allowing the holy lady to compete evenly with other, fearsome competitors. Her healing ability will heal her wounds, and the holy protection magic prevents evil things from happening altogether. Priestess has the strongest soul of all characters.
Prophet
The prophet is a wise man and a fortune teller who dwells near a forest where he keeps company with owls and other birds – animals he has special kinship with. He has prophesied that whoever wins the Dungeon Poker tournament will attain great power and the title of the Dungeon King – and although the strands of fate are still unclear, it just might be him. As befitting, he has the ability to predict what will happen next and even alter the strands of fate – changing the order of things to come. This makes the Prophet a formidable opponent.
Rogue
Equally at home in the streets of the capital city, in the wilderness, and in dungeons such as the one where the Dungeon Poker tournament is held, the cunning Rogue has the ability to spy on others, having more knowledge of what is happening than others, meaning he can look at anything hidden in the game from others or elsewhere. He is particularly feared for his cowardly and cruel ability to ambush and run – taking half of the honestly earned winnings of others and any treasure with him with little risk. But he has the ability to do that only a few times, much to the relief of all others.
Sir Nobble
Sir Nobble is a wealthy and arrogant mining magnate whose riches are only matched by his penny-pinching ways – he never wants to part from his considerable gold purse. As an opponent or a player Sir Nobble simply relies on his bigger purse and the ability to hoodwink others into accepting him into the pot without him even paying the bet – such is his mastery over monetary matters that others do not dare to criticise this questionable move.
Undead King
One of the most feared characters in Dungeon Poker is the otherworldly Undead King – the master of so-called life beyond death. He hails from the deepest crypts beyond mortal imagination. All undead creatures kneel in front of him. He possesses mastery over potent evil sorceries that help him to bury his living victims – he can raise dead creatures to undeath and call for a deadly freezing wind that will make all living creatures suffer a chilling pain deep in their bones.
Witch
In the impassable swamp some distance away from Gray Cave Mountain in a small hut with chicken legs dwells the dreaded Witch, concocting her potions and brews from unspeakable ingredients. She is a mistress of curses, where she seeks to predict the strength of her opponents and cause it to fail disastrously – spelling a certain doom to her opponents should her guess be accurate. Although seemingly frail, she is not someone to be underestimated.
Wizard
The Wizard hails from the Mystic University of the capital city, being a renowned scholar and teacher there. The promise of powerful magical artifacts and additional fame to his Alma Mater has lured the secretive Wizard to participate in the Dungeon Poker tournament. The Wizard possesses many spells, but the ones he uses in the tournament are the simple Sleight of Hand and the powerful, emblematic Conjure fire that can wipe the floor clean.
Dwarven Stalwart
The Dwarven Stalwart is the honest defender of the Dwarven Kingdom. His unshakable mind and battle-rugged torso make him the iconic epitome of defence. Penetrating his mind by evil means is actually impossible, because of the Dwarven resistance skill he possesses. Also, when he decides to make a Stubborn stand, it also becomes nearly impossible to pass his body with force. If one character in the Dungeon Poker world is prepared to face all enemies and their special abilities, the stubborn and slow Dwarven Stalwart probably is.
Fey Teratologist
Ever since she was a little girl, the Fey Teratologist has been fascinated with the grotesque and the aberrant. This fascination culminated in a dark pact she signed with a representative of all monsters, which meant that she forevermore was allied with monsters – and they with her. This pact means that whenever a monster wins and the Fey Teratologist is around, they bring their winnings to her. She can also call a monster when none are in the play by using her activated special ability.

Blue Prince
The Blue Prince is the most famous champion in the history of Dungeon Poker. Slime King
The Slime King, who is evil in a quivering, inhuman, and simply wrong way, is the nemesis of the Blue Prince. It is one of the most feared abominations in Dungeon Poker. The gluttonous Slime King sloppily devours both monsters and players to its vile, slimy innards, and becomes ever stronger as a result. At a first glance, the Slime King may seem lethargic and clumsy, but as the slime multiplies it becomes almost impossible to stop. You should not wait and see against the Slime King… or your fate will be worse than death!
Bard
Whenever there are epic battles, epic music follows suit. The Bard records these legendary struggles in the form of poems and melodic songs for generations to come. In addition to using her artistic skills as an entertainer, she can also utilize her music in combat. She may enrapture a listener to listen to her songs during the battle – only for the listener to soon realize that the battle is over. In fact, the gentle and comely Bard possesses some of the most powerful magics in Dungeon Poker – so do not underestimate her!
